St. Stephen's College is a religious foundation drawing inspiration from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. It aims at helping its members realise spiritual and moral as well as intellectual and aesthetic values.

Founded on 1 February 1881, St. Stephen's is the oldest college in Delhi. It was first affliated to Calcutta University, and later to Punjab University. Finally with the establishment of Delhi University in 1922, it became one of its three original constituent colleges.

Biography

Dr. Archana Chopra is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, with nearly four decades of teaching experience. She completed her B.A. (Hons.) and M.A. in Mathematics from St. Stephen’s College, followed by an M.Phil. in Mathematics from the University of Delhi. She has been teaching in the Department of Mathematics at St. Stephen’s College since July 1987. Her academic achievements include securing top positions in university examinations and receiving several prestigious medals, including the J.N. Mitra Memorial Medal, Shrimati Sivakamamma Radhakrishnan Medal, Shri Ram Chandra Singal Memorial Medal, M. Makhan Lal Medal, and Professor Ram Behari Medal.

Dr. Chopra has made significant contributions to the academic and administrative life of the College. She has served as Head of the Department of Mathematics and has held several important responsibilities, including Time-Table Convenor, member and Chairperson of committees related to sexual harassment prevention, Staff Advisor to various college societies, and member of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell. She has also participated in refresher courses and academic workshops in areas including Abstract Algebra, Mechanics and Differential Equations, Analysis and Applications, and Group Theory. Her long-standing association with the College reflects her commitment to teaching, academic development, and institutional responsibilities.
