St. Stephen's College is a religious foundation drawing inspiration from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. It aims at helping its members realise spiritual and moral as well as intellectual and aesthetic values.

Founded on 1 February 1881, St. Stephen's is the oldest college in Delhi. It was first affliated to Calcutta University, and later to Punjab University. Finally with the establishment of Delhi University in 1922, it became one of its three original constituent colleges.

Biography


Dr. Violet Rajeshwari Macwan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi. She pursued her graduation, post-graduation, MPhil in Chemistry, and PhD in Education from University of Delhi. She did her doctoral research in the field of science education at the tertiary level. Her area of specialization is Inorganic chemistry, and her research interests include corrosion science, environmental chemistry, and chemistry education and teacher cognition at the tertiary level. She teaches Atomic Structure and Chemical Bonding, Chemistry of s- and p- Block Elements, Bioinorganic and Organometallic Chemistry, Inorganic quantitative and qualitative analysis, Pesticide Chemistry, Inorganic Materials of Industrial Importance, and Basic Forensic Science.
