St. Stephen's College is a religious foundation drawing inspiration from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. It aims at helping its members realise spiritual and moral as well as intellectual and aesthetic values.

Founded on 1 February 1881, St. Stephen's is the oldest college in Delhi. It was first affliated to Calcutta University, and later to Punjab University. Finally with the establishment of Delhi University in 1922, it became one of its three original constituent colleges.

Biography

Praveen M is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at St. Stephen's College, University of Delhi. Praveen has qualified UGC NET with JRF in 2021, and is soon submitting his PhD thesis in Advaita Vedānta from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. C. D. Sebastian and specialises in Advaita Vedānta Metaphysics, Epistemology, Śaiva Siddhānta, and Tāntric studies. His research interests include metaphysical ideas of Advaita Vedānta, epistemology and metaphysics of Śaiva Siddhānta—especially the philosophical convictions of 16th CE Śaiva Siddhānta thinker Śivāgrayogin, metaphysics of Tāntric philosophy—especially the Prapañcasāratantra of Śaṅkarācārya. Prof. Praveen has published six research papers in peer-reviewed journals, authored one book chapter (under review), and presented more than five papers at both national and international seminars and conferences. He is a lifetime member of the Indian Philosophical Congress (IPC) and continues to pursue research in the aforesaid areas.
