St. Stephen's College is a religious foundation drawing inspiration from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. It aims at helping its members realise spiritual and moral as well as intellectual and aesthetic values.

Founded on 1 February 1881, St. Stephen's is the oldest college in Delhi. It was first affliated to Calcutta University, and later to Punjab University. Finally with the establishment of Delhi University in 1922, it became one of its three original constituent colleges.

Biography

Dr. Kavya Bhakuni is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at St. Stephen's College, University of Delhi. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Delhi, following a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry from the University of Delhi and an M.Sc. in Chemistry from IIT Delhi. She specializes in physical chemistry with research focused on biophysical chemistry, protein stability, macromolecular crowding, ionic liquids, and sustainable solvent systems. She teaches undergraduate courses in B.sc. Prog. and  B.Sc. Chemistry (Hons). Dr. Bhakuni has published 14 research papers in reputed peer-reviewed journals. During her doctoral research, she presented her work at the 47th IUPAC World Chemistry Congress in Paris in 2019, where she presented an oral paper on molecularly crowded ionic-liquid media for sustainable protein packaging. Alongside her research and teaching, Dr. Bhakuni is actively involved in academic and student-development activities.
