St. Stephen's College is a religious foundation drawing inspiration from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. It aims at helping its members realise spiritual and moral as well as intellectual and aesthetic values.

Founded on 1 February 1881, St. Stephen's is the oldest college in Delhi. It was first affliated to Calcutta University, and later to Punjab University. Finally with the establishment of Delhi University in 1922, it became one of its three original constituent colleges.

Biography

Dr. Jaspreet Kaur is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, where she has served as a permanent faculty member since 2015. She completed her B.A. and M.A. in Mathematics from the University of Delhi, followed by an M.Phil. and a Ph.D. in Mathematics under the supervision of Professor Tej B. Singh. An outstanding student, she secured the first position at Hans Raj College and the third position in the University of Delhi in both years of her M.A. programme. She qualified GATE and the National Eligibility Test (NET) and was awarded the prestigious National Board for Higher Mathematics Research Fellowship. Before joining St. Stephen’s College permanently, she taught at several colleges of the University of Delhi, including Hans Raj College, Lady Shri Ram College, Janki Devi Memorial College, Keshav Mahavidyalaya and Mata Sundri College for Women.

Research Interests
Her principal area of research is algebraic topology, with particular emphasis on transformation groups, free group actions on topological spaces, index theories and equivariant maps. Her research has appeared in reputed journals, including Topology and its Applications, the Journal of the Indian Mathematical Society and Topology Proceedings. She has presented her work at several national and international conferences, seminars and research meetings, and received the Indian Mathematical Society Prize for the best research paper presented at its 77th Annual Conference in 2011. She was also awarded the Best Poster Presentation Award at the Indian Women and Mathematics workshop held at the University of Delhi in 2015. Her continued participation in advanced research schools, faculty-development programmes and academic conferences reflects her sustained engagement with both mathematical research and teaching. She is a life member of the Ramanujan Mathematical Society and the Indian Mathematical Society.
