St. Stephen's College is a religious foundation drawing inspiration from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. It aims at helping its members realise spiritual and moral as well as intellectual and aesthetic values.

Founded on 1 February 1881, St. Stephen's is the oldest college in Delhi. It was first affliated to Calcutta University, and later to Punjab University. Finally with the establishment of Delhi University in 1922, it became one of its three original constituent colleges.

Biography

Dr. Ashutosh Shukla is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Hindi at St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi. He obtained a Ph.D. in “Bhasha Mein Laingikta – Swatantrayottar Yatharthwadi Natakon Ke Sandarbh Mein” (Gender bias in Hindi Language- with reference to post-independence realistic dramas) from the University of Delhi. He teaches undergraduate courses in Hindi department such as History of Hindi Literature, Creative writing and Hindi prose, including stories, poems, novels, and dramas. His research interests include grammar and gender, with recent work focusing on Language and Diplomacy. Dr. Ashutosh Shukla has published 8 research papers in peer- reviewed journals, authored 1 book and 4 book chapters.
