St. Stephen's College is a religious foundation drawing inspiration from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. It aims at helping its members realise spiritual and moral as well as intellectual and aesthetic values.

Founded on 1 February 1881, St. Stephen's is the oldest college in Delhi. It was first affliated to Calcutta University, and later to Punjab University. Finally with the establishment of Delhi University in 1922, it became one of its three original constituent colleges.

Biography

Dr. Arun Jacob Mathew is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at St. Stephen's College, University of Delhi. He obtained his Ph.D. in Physics and Information Technology from Kyushu Institute of Technology in Japan, and specializes in magnetism and spintronics. He has taught undergraduate courses covering multiple fields of study such as Oscillations & Waves, Optics, Quantum Physics, Thermodynamics, etc. He also has previous experience teaching postgraduate courses in Solid State Physics and Electrodynamics. 

Research Interests
Dr. Arun's research interests include spintronic devices, magnetic memory, and neuromorphic computing, with particular focus on energy-efficient computing architectures based on magnetic nanodevices. He has published several research papers in peer-reviewed international journals, including publications that were selected as Featured Article, Editor’s Pick, etc. He continues to pursue interdisciplinary research at the interface of condensed matter physics, device engineering, and emerging computing technologies.
