St. Stephen's College is a religious foundation drawing inspiration from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. It aims at helping its members realise spiritual and moral as well as intellectual and aesthetic values.

Founded on 1 February 1881, St. Stephen's is the oldest college in Delhi. It was first affliated to Calcutta University, and later to Punjab University. Finally with the establishment of Delhi University in 1922, it became one of its three original constituent colleges.

Biography

Dr. Abhay Singh is an Assistant Professor (Ad Hoc) in the Department of Sanskrit at St. Stephen's College, University of Delhi. He obtained a Ph.D. in Sanskrit Grammar from the University of Delhi and specializes in Pāṇiniyan Grammar, classical Indian philosophy, and Sanskrit poetry. He teaches Honors, SEC, VAC AEC courses such as 'Yoga in Practice', Yoga : Philosophy and Practice, KavyaPrakash etc. His research interests include Sanskrit Grammar, literature, and Indian philosophy.  

Dr. Singh has published seven research papers in peer-reviewed and reference journals, authored an original Sanskrit poetry book titled Hṛttaraṅgiṇī, and completed two significant book translations (Ātmā BluePrint and Rāghava Kripā). He has contributed to educational development by founding the online platform Sanskrit Swādhyāya Maṇḍalam and serving as Co-Editor for the bilingual journal ‘Sangamani Prabhá’ of the Publication Division of the Indian government. He is an active contributor to the college community, having served as the Staff Advisor for the Sabhá and Fine Arts societies, and continues to pursue advanced research in trilingual linguistic analysis and ancient Sanskrit texts.
