Celebrating Ms. Sangeeta Luthra Sharma: A Cherished Teacher and Mentor
Ms. Sangeeta Luthra Sharma, Associate Professor in the Department of History, retired from St. Stephen’s College on 31 August 2026, bringing to a close a remarkable academic journey that began on 26 December 1991, when she first joined to teach at her Alma Mater.
Over the course of her long association with the College, Ms. Sharma taught and guided generations of students. Her contribution, however, extended far beyond the formal boundaries of the classroom. She will be remembered not only as a teacher of History but also as a compassionate mentor who remained genuinely concerned about the academic progress and personal well-being of her students.
If one may speak on behalf of the generations she taught, Ms. Sharma was among the kindest, warmest, and friendliest teachers they encountered during their years at College. Her approachable nature allowed students to seek her guidance with confidence and ease. Through her warmth, generosity, and steadfast support, Ms. Sharma embodied the humane spirit of teaching. The affection and respect she earned from her students constitute an enduring part of her legacy. The lessons she imparted, the encouragement she offered, and the lives she touched will continue to be remembered long after her retirement.

As she begins this new chapter of her life, the College community wishes her a restful, joyful, and fulfilling retirement, enriched by good health, happiness, and the affection of all those whose lives she has shaped.
