St. Stephen's College is a religious foundation drawing inspiration from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. It aims at helping its members realise spiritual and moral as well as intellectual and aesthetic values.

Founded on 1 February 1881, St. Stephen's is the oldest college in Delhi. It was first affliated to Calcutta University, and later to Punjab University. Finally with the establishment of Delhi University in 1922, it became one of its three original constituent colleges.

Tharangam 2026: Onam at St. Stephen’s

St. Stephen’s College celebrated the spirit of Onam through Tharangam 2026, organised by the Malayalam Literary Society on 2 and 3 September 2026.

The main celebration brought the Stephanian community together around a colourful Pookalam, traditional music and dance, and the much-awaited Onam Sadhya. The programme was graced by Mr. Alexander George Muthoot and Mr. Zachariah Jacob as chief guests and inaugurated by the Principal with the traditional Uriyadi.

With students and societies participating across cultures and languages, Tharangam reflected the warmth, togetherness and shared festive spirit of St. Stephen’s.
