Principal Prof. Susan Elias Meets Kerala Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan Along with Distinguished Senior Alumnus Dr. Shashi Tharoor
Principal Prof. Susan Elias of St. Stephen’s College met Shri V. D. Satheesan, Chief Minister of Kerala, in New Delhi, along with Dr. Shashi Tharoor, distinguished senior alumnus of St. Stephen’s College and Member of Parliament.
During the meeting, Prof. Susan Elias proposed the development of a collaborative inter-state ecosystem for incubation and entrepreneurship, aimed at creating greater opportunities for students to transform innovative ideas into ventures and, in turn, generate employment opportunities. The proposal was well received by the Chief Minister of Kerala and opened up possibilities for the College to explore meaningful collaborations in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Prof. Susan Elias also expressed her gratitude to Dr. Tharoor for joining the meeting and for his continued engagement with the College. Dr. Shashi Tharoor was a History Honours student at St. Stephen’s College from 1972 to 1975 and served as President of the College Students’ Union in 1974. His presence on the occasion reflected his enduring association with and affection for his alma mater.
During the occasion, Prof. Susan Elias presented Shri V. D. Satheesan with the St. Stephen’s College Crest and a copy of the book on the history of the College authored by Dr. David E. U. Baker, an Australian historian and former senior member of the Department of History at St. Stephen’s College. The presentation offered an opportunity to share with the Chief Minister a glimpse of the College’s rich history, heritage and traditions.
The meeting provided an opportunity to explore avenues for collaboration in innovation and entrepreneurship while strengthening the College’s engagement with its distinguished alumni and wider academic and public community.
