Celebrating Mr. Arun Kumar: At the Heart of the College’s Computational Journey

Mr. Arun Kumar, Senior Technical Assistant in the Department of Computer Science, retired on 31 August 2026 after completing 37 years, 10 months and 6 days of dedicated service to St. Stephen’s College.

He joined the College on 25 October 1988 as a Scientific Assistant and was subsequently promoted to the position of Senior Technical Assistant. His long professional journey accompanied the growth of computer education and the steady development of technological infrastructure within the College.

During the institution’s early transition into the computational era, Mr. Arun Kumar emerged as a key contributor. His computational expertise and dependable technical assistance proved invaluable to the Department, College, and its students as they adapted to new systems and emerging technologies. His knowledge, experience, and commitment supported the academic and technical work of the College through several phases of technological change.

Over nearly four decades, he assisted generations of faculty members and students with sincerity and dedication. His contribution to the development of the College’s technical and academic environment, particularly during its formative computational years, will be remembered with gratitude and appreciation.
