The St. Stephen's College Alumni Office is delighted to share that Professor Shobhit Mahajan (B.Sc. Hons. Physics, Batch of 1977–1980) was presented with a Citation of Appreciation by Principal Susan Elias
in recognition of his distinguished contributions to physics, science education, and his enduring association with the College as an outstanding student, teacher, and alumnus.

The citation was presented following Professor Mahajan's Distinguished Lecture under the Summer Research and Innovation Programme (SRIP) 2026, honouring his lifelong commitment to scholarship and scientific inquiry. His decades of teaching, research, and scientific writing have inspired generations of students and advanced science education in India.

A President's Gold Medal recipient at St. Stephen's College, Professor Mahajan earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley, before returning to his alma mater as a member of its faculty.

Presenting the Citation of Appreciation, Principal Susan Elias acknowledged Professor Mahajan's remarkable journey as one that reflects the enduring values of St. Stephen's College—excellence, integrity, humility, and service—and his lasting impact as a teacher, mentor, and member of the Stephanian community.
