Every Student is required to work towards a degree with a specific choice of subjects. The following degree programmes are offered in College in accordance with the regulations of the Delhi University. The duration of M.A. / M.Sc. programmes is two years, and that of B.A. Hons/B.Sc. Hons and B.A Programme / B.Sc. programmes is three years.
 

Degree Programmes


M.A.
In one of the following subjects :
Economics, English, History, Mathematics, Operations Research, Philosophy, Sanskrit

M.Sc.
In one of the following subjects :
Chemistry, Mathematics, Operations Research, Physics.

B.A. Hons.
I
n one of the following subjects :

Economics, English, History, Mathematics, Philosophy and Sanskrit

 Every student in the first year B.A. Hons. class is required to offer one credit and one qualifying language course and one credit inter disciplinary course in addition to the main Honours subject.

 

The College offers the following courses -

1. Credit languages - English and Hindi

2. Qualifying languages – English, Hindi and Sanskrit

3. Inter disciplinary courses – Reading Gandhi; History of Environmental Issues in India; Individual and Society;   Hindi Language Literature and Culture ; Ethics in the Public Domain( Only for Philosophy Hons.)

 

A student who has not studied any of the credit or qualifying languages offered by the College, beyond class VIII, may offer an inter disciplinary course in lieu thereof.

 

In second year each Hons. student is required to study two inter disciplinary courses, in addition to the main Honours subject.

 

The College offers the following inter disciplinary courses -

a.   Economics: Principles of Economics

b.   English: Modern Indian and world Literature

c.   History: History of Modern Delhi 

d.   Philosophy: Formal Logic

e.   Political Science: Citizenship in a Globalizing World

f.   Sanskrit: Sanskrit Literature

g.   Mathematics: Algebra and Calculus (Only for Economics Hons.)

h.   Economics : Principles of Economics (Only for Mathematics Hons.)

i.   Philosophy: Symbolic Logic (only for Mathematics and Economics Hons.)

 

Second year students cannot opt for concurrent / inter disciplinary courses offered by their respective departments viz. students of History Hons. cannot opt for History of Modern Delhi or Economics Hons. students cannot choose Principles of Economics.

B.A. Programme
Every student in the first year B.A. Programme class has to read two discipline courses out of Economics, History, Philosophy and Political Science and two language courses out of English, Hindi, Sanskrit and Urdu.

In second year, B.A. Programme scholars continue with their discipline courses and one language and offer one foundation course in Contemporary India. In third year they continue with their two discipline courses and offer one language and one application course out of Mass Communication and Globalization.
