His demise marks the end of a remarkable era in Indian and international sport. A distinguished Olympian, Asian Games gold medallist, visionary sports administrator, and decorated alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, Raja Randhir Singh Ji dedicated his life to the advancement of sport and the Olympic movement. His extraordinary contributions as an athlete and administrator inspired generations and helped shape the sporting landscape of our nation and beyond.

As members of his alma mater, we remember him not only for his remarkable achievements and visionary leadership, but also for the qualities that defined the man behind the accolades. Beyond his accomplishments in sport, Raja Randhir Singh Ji was admired for his humility, graciousness, and unwavering commitment to others. He was cherished for the friendships he nurtured and respected for the kindness, dignity, and consideration with which he treated everyone he encountered.

These virtues remain as much a part of his legacy as his contributions to sport. His journey from the classrooms and playing fields of St. Stephen’s College to the highest echelons of international sport remains a source of immense pride for our institution.

His valuable experience, guidance, and counsel played an important role in shaping and strengthening the culture of sports at St. Stephen’s College, inspiring generations of students and athletes, many of whom today serve in leadership positions in sports administration in India and on the global stage.

The College community joins the sporting fraternity across India and the world in mourning this profound loss. While his passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, his legacy will continue to inspire students, athletes, along with the faculty, and administrators in college and all those who believe in the power of sport and education.

In this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the entire family.
