We endeavour to ensure that the mosaic of our student
body reflects the variety and diversity that comprise the richness
and greatness of our nation. This is attained by a fair and
transparent Admission Procedure, driven entirely by inter se merit. The
College admits students to its Undergraduate and Graduate Courses
every year. The admission procedures usually extend from mid-May to
early-July and classes begin around mid-July. A very large number of
students, most of them commendably, meritorious and talented apply
each year from every State and Union Territory.
As a constituent college of the University of Delhi, St. Stephen’s
abides by all University regulations, other than those that affect
its minority status and rights under Article 30(1) of the
Constitution of India. The University follows the semester system in
all its undergraduate and graduate programmes. University
examinations are now held now twice a year, at the end of
each of the semesters an academic year is divided into.
Every student is required to work towards a degree with a specific
choice of courses. Master's degree courses are taught in the
University and Bachelor’s degree courses in the College. The
duration of a Master's programme is two years and that of a
Bachelor’s is four years (The University has decided to make it a
four year programme with effect from the academic year 2013-14).
