LAW IN ACTION


About the Course:

This is the third online course being offered by St. Stephen’s Centre for Advanced Learning (SCAL).

Law in Action is a 6-Day Intensive e-Course which will see seasoned Lawyers and Bureaucrats conducting the sessions. It will be a course which will open up a deeper understanding of how the legal machinery works and will afford finer insights for those who have an interest in the working of Law.  The virtual classes will not be recorded lectures, but will be live sessions along with peer learning and an assignment.

Our aim for this course is three fold:

  1. Practitioners’ Perspective: We pride ourselves on not just academic excellence but also on facilitating knowledge by practitioners in the field.
  2. Stephanian Engagement: All our facilitators are our Alumni, who are sans pareil in their understanding and practice of law.
  3. Access to Top Notch Resource Personnel: An incomparable and sui generis opportunity to have a one-on-one interaction with the most illustrious experts of the legal fraternity.

The Certificate course is open to graduates and professionals. Candidates with prior knowledge of Law will be preferred. International candidates are welcome to apply. There are limited seats available, hence early applications are recommended.

 

Course Structure:

6-day intensive course with 2-hour classes daily from 2 pm to 4 pm, beginning from Monday, 15 June 2020.

The sessions will include a 90-minute lecture, followed by a Q&A round.

Evaluation would include a graded assignment, course participation and interaction.

  • Contracts and Enforcement
  • Intellectual Property and Enforcement
  • International Law
  • Arbitration
  • Prevention of Money Laundering

 

Methodology:

Classes will be held online via Google Meet. Hence, applicants must have access to a laptop and the internet. Interactive lectures, Q&A sessions, case studies as examples, and real life experiences will form the methodology.

 

Course Fee:

A highly subsidised course fee of Rs 25,000/ only, which covers all costs and taxes will be payable in full at the time of enrolment.

A Registration fee of Rs 500/ only will be charged at the time of submitting the online application.

On successful completion of the course, the student will be presented with a certificate from the St. Stephen’s Centre for Advanced Learning.

The time period to deposit the fee: Within 48 hours of the notification of admission, failing which admission will stand cancelled. Last date to pay the fee – Sunday, 14th June 2020, 12:00 noon.

**Fee once paid is non-refundable under any circumstances.

 

Application Process:

Online Application – Submit the completed online application form available on www.ststephens.edu/scal by Wednesday, 10th June 2020, 23:59 hours.

Statement of Purpose – Applicants will be required to upload a Statement of Purpose showcasing their interest and motivation to pursue the course in not more than 800 words.

Applicants are also required to upload their CV, photograph and signature in the required format.

A Registration fee of Rs 500/ only will be charged at the time of submitting the online application.

Interviews – Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online interview.

Results – Selected candidates will be notified a day after the interviews.

The self-motivated and ceaseless activities of over two dozen clubs and societies constitute a very important part of College life and offer a large variety of avenues for self expression. For each subject there is a Society that sponsors extra-curricular lectures and discussion and, in general, tries to stimulate interest in the subject. There are many other academic and cultural society and clubs covering wide range of activities, such as debating, dramatics, mountaineering, film and music appreciation, social service, photography and electronics.
