THE PRINCIPAL-DESIGNATE

I am delighted to announce that Prof. John Varghese, currently working with the English and Foreign Languages University in Hyderabad, has been selected to be the 13th Principal of St.Stephen’s College. He will assume charge w. e. f. 1 March 2016.

He will spend a week in the College w. e. f. 24th receiving charge from the out-going Principal and will be installed through a simple ceremony split between the chapel and the Principal’s office on the 1st of March, 2016. The bishop of CNI in Delhi, the Chairman of the Supreme Council and Governing Body, will officiate.

Prof. John, who formerly worked for a brief while in the English Department of our College, has a brilliant academic record, excellent work culture, robust peoples skills and deep commitment to the College. The College is fortunate in getting him to lead the institution for the years to come.

As a community we welcome him, assure him of our unreserved support and wish him all success in this new phase of service and leadership.

The self-motivated and ceaseless activities of over two dozen clubs and societies constitute a very important part of College life and offer a large variety of avenues for self expression. For each subject there is a Society that sponsors extra-curricular lectures and discussion and, in general, tries to stimulate interest in the subject. There are many other academic and cultural society and clubs covering wide range of activities, such as debating, dramatics, mountaineering, film and music appreciation, social service, photography and electronics.
