THE FINANCE AND INVESTMENT CELL

The Finance & Investment Cell was instituted back in 2007, with the objective of instilling a sense of financial keenness amongst the student community. The Cell has grown by leaps and bounds and has emerged as one of the most active and popular societies in the DU circuit.

Being backed by sponsors such as Blue Dart, Coca-Cola, American Express and other well-known brands in the past, the society serves as a great platform for students to indulge in quality learning whilst having fun! 

From having the honour of hosting stalwarts from the world of business and finance like Dr. Kaushik Basu(former chief Economist, World Bank), Dr. Usher Ahluwalia(chairperson, Board of Governors, ICRIER) and being pioneers in creating financial awareness amongst the less privileged, to conducting national level case study competitions and National Finance Festivals, the society sees active participation of over 5000+ students from various colleges from across the country.

      1 Society Orientation Orientation College   The Finance and Investment Cell's society orientation was held to induct the incoming batch of First Year junior members of St. Stephen's College into the society through an interactive session introducing the past events held by the Finance and investment Cell.       Tuesday, 22nd August 2023
        2 Finatic Competition National   Finatic 2023 is a standalone quizzing event organized by the Finatic vertical every year. The quiz had two rounds with questions on topics ranging from finance to business and economics trivia. It was held on campus in 2023 for all undergraduate, graduate and school students across the country.                 3 Case Club League Competition National         Case Club League is one of the biggest case study competitions in India, and witnessed a participation of 1700+ students this year. The competition differs from other competitions because of the its interactive aspect. Over the several rounds of the competition, the participants were given dynamic business case studies, solving of which had to be done in the stipulated time. 4 Financial Literacy Festival’23 3-Day Fest     National           FinLiterati is the annual financial literacy fest spread over a period of three days which includes two major events – a national level case competition and an engaging treasure hunt - as well as a Carnival for school students.       Cipher (Treasure Hunt)   Saturday, 18th November 2023   Business Tangent (Case Competition)   Monday, 20th November 2023   Carnival   Tuesday, 21st November 2023
5 Financial Knights/Excel Simulation Competition National   Financial Knights is an event which gathers students from all around India to participate in an Excel based simulation of the stock market. Participants are asked to invest in various companies' stocks based on news and rumours to make the highest profits from the dynamically changing values of the stocks.         To be held offline on-campus in the third week of January
6 DreaMerger Competition National       DreaMerger is a case study competition which mainly focusses on cases based on Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A).   Prelims (Online Quiz)   To be held in the first week of February   Finals   To be held offline on-campus in the third week of February
                7 Das Capital Competition National   Das Capital is the annual finance festival of the society spread over three days with a diverse range of events.   The events to be held during Das Capital 2024 are as follows:   1. Corporate Wars (A Dynamic Case Study Competition)   2. Finatic (A Cryptic Business & Finance Quiz)   3. Investrix (Financial Market Simulation)   4.   8 Finsight             Workshops/Competitions College         A set of interactive events such as competitions, workshops etc. conducted throughout the year exclusively for Stephanians to ensure their active involvement in the society.                 Throughout the year

The self-motivated and ceaseless activities of over two dozen clubs and societies constitute a very important part of College life and offer a large variety of avenues for self expression. For each subject there is a Society that sponsors extra-curricular lectures and discussion and, in general, tries to stimulate interest in the subject. There are many other academic and cultural society and clubs covering wide range of activities, such as debating, dramatics, mountaineering, film and music appreciation, social service, photography and electronics.
