CYBER SECURITY – A CURTAIN RAISER
Introduction:
Cyber Security is the number one national security concern of the US and by extrapolation of the world. Getting hacked has become the new normal. When you get hacked is the only question. There is hardly anybody who has not faced the heat – from critical infrastructure to bank accounts to your mail, everything is vulnerable. A more connected world is a more vulnerable world. Social Media has added a totally different dimension to it. COVID-19 has forced us into an unprepared Digital Transformation; our workplace, education, communication and financial transactions have all finally converged into cyber dependency.
Whatever your profession, it’s a dire need to keep yourself and your enterprise cyber safe. To unravel it for you, SCAL has organised this course after careful consideration and brings to you all what you need in Cyber Security, encapsulated in a week-long intensive course. Designed by Mr Sanjay Sahay, India’s leading expert in this field, the course has a battery of experts from the IT Industry as its knowledge resource / speakers.
The level of security inbuilt into hardware, software and apps by way of version control, upgrades and its many versions has only let us survive thus far. As if pirated softwares were not enough, there are tonnes of digital genies being born every day. The App world which we all fancy has nothing left of security in the changed world of digital transformation, while being locked in our houses.
What permissions you have given to which app cannot even be sorted out by the best security researchers in the world. With keylogger on board a large number of these Apps, we have already compromised on our phone / data. The patch management is at an abysmal level. From the operating system to the app is an endless challenge and with the attitude of consumption of gadgets / data and not of technology is weighing heavily against us. Neither the firmware of a camera or the protocol of a router, none is in our control, what data comes and goes, no one knows. The present IT ecosystem and the Indian attitude is completely open to cyber threats. And landing perforce into a fully digital ecosystem, courtesy COVID-19, can be extremely dangerous at the first indications have already shown.
