INSTRUCTIONS TO VOTERS

  1. The election of PRESIDENT and the members of the STUDEDNTS’ COUNCIL will be held on Wednesday 30 August 2017 from 11 a.m to 1 P.M. , No polling will take place after 1 P.M.
  2. Separate polling booths have been designated for different classes.   Members can cast their votes only at the polling booth assigned to them.
  3. Members have to SHOW THEIR IDENTITY CARDS TO THE POLLING OFFICER.  NO ONE WILL BE PERMITTED TO CAST HIS/HER VOTE WITHOUT A VALID IDENTITY CARD.
  4. Election of The President
    The President will be elected by an alternative vote system.  The voter will be required to indicate his/her preference among the various candidates, though it is not obligatory on the part of the voter to indicate all his/her preferences: e.g.

      A         1          or         A         or         A 1    or        A 2
     B          2                      B 1                   B                   B 1
     C          3                      C                      C                  C3  

A tick or a cross mark against the name of the candidate  invalidates the ballot paper.

  1. Election to the Students’ Council
    The vote will be cast by putting X mark against the name of the candidate for whom the   vote is to be Cast.

             For B.A.(Prog.)/B.A.(Hons.)/B.Sc.(Prog.)/B.Sc.(Hons.) Classes:
             A Voter can put one cross mark each against six names only.

             A ballot paper shall be declared invalid if
            (a) the vote cast is not properly indicated    

            (b)  the ballot paper is signed or anything  is written on the ballot paper, or if there is over writing or correction made.
            Besides, in the case of Students’ Council Election,  a ballot Paper shall be declared invalid if it has
             (a)  more than one can mark is written  in favour of one candidate
             (b)  the number of cross marks  is more than the seats for the class.

SOCIETIES
The self-motivated and ceaseless activities of over two dozen clubs and societies constitute a very important part of College life and offer a large variety of avenues for self expression. For each subject there is a Society that sponsors extra-curricular lectures and discussion and, in general, tries to stimulate interest in the subject. There are many other academic and cultural society and clubs covering wide range of activities, such as debating, dramatics, mountaineering, film and music appreciation, social service, photography and electronics.
