A 6-Day Intensive e-Course


Overview:

Following the success of the first 6-week executive programme in Public Policy and International Relations, St. Stephen’s Centre for Advanced Learning (SCAL) is back with its next programme.

The centre is going online considering the present global situation on account of COVID-19 and is offering a 6-day intensive e-course on The Practice of Public Policy and Administration at extremely subsidised charges. This course will carefully incorporate the basics of Public Policy along with practitioners’ knowledge and experience pertaining to Policy Formulation, Development, and Implementation at the Centre, State, and Grass-root levels.

The course will take an experiential and problem-driven approach to understanding Public Policy, its implementation and administration. The virtual classes will not only be a lecture, but will include peer learning, workshop, an assignment, and mentoring by the guest facilitator.

In order to facilitate and benefit from one-on-one mentoring, the first online cohort will have 20 candidates. The 20 slots will be filled after a thorough application review and an online interview.

Eligibility Criteria:

The Certificate course is open to graduates and professionals. Candidates from all disciplines and backgrounds are welcome to apply. International candidates may also apply. Selection to the course will depend on successful completion of the application process.

Application Process:

The application will be online and the portal will open on Wednesday, 29th April, 2020.

Online Application– Submit the complete online application form available on www.ststephens.edu/scal by Friday, 8th May, 2020, 23:59 hours.

Statement of Purpose – Applicants will be required to upload a Statement of Purpose showcasing their interest and motivation to pursue the course in not more than 800 words.

Applicants are also required to upload their CV, photograph and signature in the required format.

A Registration fee of INR 500 will be charged at the time of submitting the online application.

Interviews – Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.

Results – The final selections will be notified within 2 days of the final interview day.

Course Structure:

This is a 6-day intensive e-course with 3-hour classes daily from 2 pm to 5 pm, beginning from Monday, 18th May 2020. Each session will include a 100 – 120 minutes lecture, followed by a 10 minutes long break, 30 minutes Q&A Round, and a 20 minutes long personal one-on-one mentoring session taken by the guest lecturer depending upon their time and availability.

The course will include a mandatory assignment.

Evaluation would include graded assignment, and course participation and interaction.

Faculty:

The faculty and facilitators for this programme will be seasoned IAS and IPS veterans experienced in the implementation and administration of several Public Policy schemes for the government of India. In keeping with the previous programme’s facilitators who were distinguished Secretaries to the Government of India and State Governments (IAS), Current and Former Ambassadors and High Commissioners (IFS), Additional Director General of Police from State force (IPS), and IRS officers along with Current and Former Ministers and policy experts, this programme will bring the most experienced bureaucrats and leaders in the fields to share their experiences with participants.

Methodology:

Classes will be held online via Google Meet. Hence, applicants must have access to a laptop and the internet. Interactive lectures, Q&A sessions, case studies as examples, and real life experiences will form the methodology.

Course Fees:

A highly subsidised course fee of Rs 10,000 only, which covers all costs and taxes will be payable in full at the time of enrolment. On successful completion of the course, the student will be presented with a certificate from St. Stephen’s Centre for Advanced Learning.

The time period to deposit the fee: Within 3 days of the notification of admission, failing which admission will stand cancelled. Last date to pay the fee – Saturday, 16th May 2020.

**Fee once paid is non-refundable under any circumstances.

For each subject there is a Society that sponsors extra-curricular lectures and discussion and, in general, tries to stimulate interest in the subject. There are many other academic and cultural society and clubs covering wide range of activities, such as debating, dramatics, mountaineering, film and music appreciation, social service, photography and electronics.
