of the British Empire). He has been given this rare honour for
his services in the field of education, his degree of
professionalism and integrity, for the respect and affection he
enjoys amongst his peers both in India and Britain as well as the
impact that his work has had on some of India's brightest and best

Subarno Chattarji
The
University of Oxford conferred the doctoral degree on Mr. Subarno
Chattarji for his dissertation entitled: Memories of a lost war:
A study of American Poetic Responses to the Vietnam war. Revd.
Valson Thambu
Revd.
Valson Thampu's book Pilgrims to the Light: Encounters
in a shared Destiny, was published by Har-Anand Publishers. He
also brought out fifteen articles and twelve booklets on various
subjects and has participated in a number of national and
international conferences. Dr
S.V.Eshwaran
Dr
S.V.Eswaran also participated in a number of national seminars and
has been re-appointed editor of the science magazine Resonance,
published by the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore and also
the regional representative of the Chemical Research Society,
Bangalore. Recognized
as a Ph.D. Supervisor by the University of Delhi, where he has
also been teaching M.Sc. (Agrochemicals & Pest Management)
course since 1992. Since 1996 has served as editor
,Resonance, a science magazine published by the Indian Academy of
Science, Bangalore. Currently conducting research under a
project sponsored by D.R.D.O., Govt. of India Nominated as a
member , Monitoring Committee to monitor a research project
at I.I.C.T., Hyderabad and N.C.L., Pune. Dr.

Horace Jacob has been nominated by the President of India to the Academic
