FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
24 December 2010
THE
ALMA MATER
CALLS STEPHANIANS WORLDWIDE
My dear fellow Stephanians,
To have met several of you at the Annual Reunion Lunch 2010 in
College is a happy and encouraging experience. Of course a great
many among you missed the occasion, I am sure, for imponderable
reasons.
Reunion Lunch is a symbol of our bonding together under the umbrella
of St. Stephen’s.
Beyond the Reunion Lunch I have further good news to share.
After several months of silent reflection, tentative homework and
private consultations with the alumni within reach, I took the
plunge finally to proceed with road-mapping the renovation,
up-gradation and further growth of our College which has remained
somewhat stagnant for over five decades at least. I am humbled and
delighted to share with you that this process has, since then, made
significant progress and evoked responses far in excess of my most
robust expectations!
Consequently, 1 February 2011 will be observed as the College Day in
a befitting and purposive manner. The main highlight of College Day
2011 will be the unveiling of
Project “St. Stephens’s
2050” (in a provisional and embryonic form) and to open it up for a
detailed interactive session mainly on two focal points (a) The new
courses to be introduced and (b) the infrastructure to be developed.
Two Focus Groups have been formed to address these two particularly
significant aspects in a systematic way and they are hard at work.
Please ensure that you are present on that occasion to give the
College the benefit of your wisdom and expertise in these and allied
areas. The day’s programmes will culminate in a Charity Dinner which
is envisaged also as a fund raising event.
I felt urged to notify all alumni in respect of College Day well in
advance so that they may keep that day for being in College. Those
who wish to participate in the planning and consultative progress in
a regular way from now onwards, may please get in touch with me on
my personal email id:
vthampu@gmail.com
I shall keep you posted on the various emerging and imminent
developments through successive reports on this website, until a
separate and specialized website becomes operational - to serve as
the dedicated link between the alumni and their alma mater - which
is also envisaged.
I am currently in Kerala, preparing myself for a demanding and
exciting 2011 in the life of our College.
I wish all of you a blessed Christmas Season and a
Happy New Year
Rev.Dr. Valson Thampu
