2009:               Resisting Men: Gandhi, Gender and Anti-colonialism: Reresearch theme: Deconstructing the Hegemony of Men and Masculinities.

Undertaken as Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Gender Excellence (GEXcel), Tema Genus, Linköping University, Sweden

2008-2009:           ‘National Iconography, Nationalism and Patriotism’.

The project sought to examine the nature and mechanics of popular icons and the cultural and political work that they perform.

Undertaken at the Centre for Women’s Development Studies (CWDS), Delhi.

2007-2009:           ‘Media Censorship and the Postcolonial Regulation of Sexuality and Culture’

 The project sought to understand how censorship works as an enterprise particularly in relation to the     regulation of sexuality, dominant notions of culture and nationhood.

2002 – 2009:                          Member, independent research project.  Media and Democracy: News Representations of Communal Violence

The study had two phases:

(2002-2004) A detailed study of the news coverage of the Gujarat carnage 2002 in three languages: Gujarati (local press, in translation), Hindi and English (local and national press) in print and the electronic media.

(2008-2009) Examining reportage on other more routine incidents of communalized violence.

1991 – Present:     Continuous teaching experience, administrative work and research at Delhi University

1993 – Present:   Currently Associate Professor at St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi where I have                   taught in a permanent position since 1993.

2015-2016:                             Appointed as Associate Professor in the Civic Innovation Research Initiative (CIRI) of The International Institute for Social Studies (ISS) Erasmus University, The Netherlands.

2016:                                        Selected by The International Institute of Social Studies, The Hague to teach for the Erasmus+ Gender and Sexuality Summer School, to be held from 13 – 19 September 2016 in University of Prishtina, Prishtina, Kosovo, and organized by the University Program for Gender Studies and Research, in cooperation and support with the Center for Equality and Liberty, Civil Rights Defenders, Embassy of Sweden and Astrea.

2011                                         Appointed as a European Union Marie Curie International Incoming Senior Research Fellow at the Linkoping University, Sweden. The project was subsequently moved to The International Institute for Social Studies (ISS) Erasmus University, in 2015, and was completed in 2016.
