PROSPECTUS FOR ADVANCED DIPLOMA COURSE


St. Stephen’s College offers part-time Advanced Diploma courses in the following languages for students of Delhi University as well as for the general public: French, German, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese. The University of Delhi conducts the examination and awards Advanced Diploma for these courses. A student will be admitted to only one course at a time. Applicants should carefully read this introductory notice and then fill out the attached application form. The College reserves the right to cancel any course before 1 August 2017.

Application process

Admissions will be fully online and the forms will be available on the college website on 20 June 2017.

Applicants are to pay a Registration fee of Rs.500/- at the time of submitting the online application. They are also required to upload their photograph and signature in the required format.

Admission is only through entrance test. Diploma in the relevant language from St. Stephen’s College/Delhi University/Diploma in the requisite language from institutions other than St. Stephen’s College/DU are eligible to appear for the test.

Calendar of Admissions

  • Online application: 20 June to 05 July 2017
  • Last date for submission of forms for admission: 5 July 2017
  • Entrance Test: 09 July 2017
  • First List: 12 July 2017
  • Second List: 14 July 2017
  • Third List: 19 July 2017
  • Time period to deposit course fee: Within three days of the notification of admission list failing which admission will be cancelled.

  (For enquiries, the office of the Centre for Languages will be open from Monday to Friday between 9:30 am-4:00pm).

Duration of the Course

  • Classes will begin from the first week of August and will continue approximately until the end of March 2018. Classes will be held according to the University calendar.

Language courses are part-time courses. Students enrolled in these courses will not be regular students of the College. They are not entitled to college identity cards, library facilities, hostel accommodation or any other facility open to regular students of this college. Those admitted have to sign an undertaking to that effect. Students who come by car will have to pay separate parking fees. Monthly passes for this purpose can be bought from the office.

The college reserves the right to take disciplinary action against any student found violating college discipline. This includes expulsion from the course.

Course Fees: (Payable by bank challan to the State Bank of India bank or Online)

Chinese and Japanese: Rs. 17000/- All other languages: Rs 20,000/-

At the time of admission, applicants whose names appear in the list have to bring a print-out of the online application for along with a self-attested copy of the Plus Two Mark sheet for verification. The course fee can be submitted directly (through challan) to the Syndicate Bank opposite the office of the Centre for Languages.

 

(Please note that fee once paid is non-refundable under any circumstance)

 (Admission to these courses are also open to the regular students of St. Stephen’s College given they have a Diploma in the relevant language. They will get 10% fees concession)

 French

Monday, Wednesday and Friday MW 2:30-5:30pm and Friday 2:30-4:30pm

 

German

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 4-6pm

 

Spanish

Monday, Wednesday and Friday 11am-1pm

 

There will not be any entrance test for the following course –
(Seats will be alloted on the basis of candidates who register first on the admission portal).

Chinese

Monday, Wednesday and Friday 4-6pm

 

Japanese

Monday, Wednesday and Friday 4-6pm

The self-motivated and ceaseless activities of over two dozen clubs and societies constitute a very important part of College life and offer a large variety of avenues for self expression. For each subject there is a Society that sponsors extra-curricular lectures and discussion and, in general, tries to stimulate interest in the subject. There are many other academic and cultural society and clubs covering wide range of activities, such as debating, dramatics, mountaineering, film and music appreciation, social service, photography and electronics.
